The Maverick Appoints Another Maverick as Vice-Presidential Pick
Numerous news sources have confirmed that Alaska governor, Sarah Palin, will be his Vice-Presidential running mate. In retrospect one might have deduced that she would ultimately be his choice given her political and personal history.
Her career in politics has been marked by a combination of rugged individualism and dedication to morals. When it comes to her fellow Republicans she has not hesitated to investigate corruption when it involved them. Although she believes in using Alaska’s resources she felt that too many state officials where too cozy with big oil so she appointed a independent commission even though her husband is an employee of British Petroleum. While she opposes gay marriage, she has stood up for their human rights with a veto to a proposed law to bar gay employee benefits.
She is very much a “Pro-Life” feminist and is the mother of five including one with Down’s Syndrome. The genetic defect was discovered before the child was born but the governor decided to complete the pregnancy. Also, she has son serving in the infantry in Iraq. Her husband is a Native Yup’ik Eskimo.
This Presidential race just had whole another dimension added to it and can only be considered a very positive move.
