Obama Campaign Says Fundraiser 31,000 dollars a Plate is Private Not A Part of Campaign
While thousands of lower level employees at several falling Wall Street firms clean out their offices in New York and thousands wait in line for food on Galveston Island, Senator Barack Obama will be attending the largest and richest celebrity party ever held. Participants are required to donate almost 31,000 dollars per person for the event which will consist of a dinner at a Beverly Hills mansion followed by a Barabara Streisand performance. Already there are legal questions because the amount of money per person is over the legal limit for a campaign although the organizers say they are going to use the “excess for other Democratic causes”. We called the Democratic party headquarters to ask if any of this money would be used for hurricane relief and were told ” the fundraiser is a private function not associated with the Barack Obama campaign”.
Several sources have indicated that the guest list could be as high as 900. We tried to get a guest list by calling several different numbers but we were told this is a private function not associated with the Barack Obama campaign. No one would give us an answer when we asked how many Wall Street executives would be at the party. The Hollywood organizers are reported to be very pleased that this will be the single largest tranfer of money to a politician in American history. It is nice to know that Obama has successful friends with whom he can celebrate while the rest of the country is weathering a financial storm.
